Bring up games in the proper order

Post by jhauser42 »

I mostly play turn-based arena games and I often have more than one of the same game running.

Lately I have been getting a lot of the message "You Must Play This Other Game First".

I am trying to play the games just by hitting "Next Table".

If you would bring up the next game in the order they need to be played this error would not have to be displayed. It is very frustrating to press the next table button and get that message 3 times in a row instead of the system just taking me to the game I need to play next.

I do understand it is necessary if someone tried to pick a particular game, but the next table button should take you to the next table, not load a table then tell you to play a different game.

What do you consider "proper order"?

Right now games are ordered from least amount of thinking time to greatest amount of thinking time.

I mean when I click on "Go To Next Table" I should never get the message "You have to play this other game first". It should automatically bring up the game I need to play next.

It also has this message "Arena turn-based games rule: you must play on the table where it has been your turn for the longest time."

I do not understand why Go to next table would bring me to a game I cannot play instead of the one I have to play next.

I totally agree. By "proper order" we mean any order in which it is a) your turn and b) isn't blocked by another table. The intent of the next table link is to allow a player to quickly take their turns at tables where they can do so, but the implementation currently takes you to tables where you can't play ahead of takes where you can.

I think this is a solid suggestion. I assume these messages are only seen when a player is in an Arena game that is overdue?

No. This happens when you are playing multiple turn based games in Arena that have different "turns per day" settings.

So hypothetically the following is happening. Let's say I'm paying multiple games, and these three get added to my queue (because it is now my turn) in this order:
Can't Stop - 1 turn/day
1 hour later
7 Wonders table A - 1 turn/day
1 hour later
7 Wonders table B - 3 turns/day
1 hour later I log on and see it is my turn to play on 3 tables. I click the link and it takes me to the first in the queue, Can't Stop. I've got 69 hours left. I play and bust, as usual. I click next and it takes me to 7 Wonders table A as the next in my queue. I've got 70 hours left, however 7 Wonders table B is also in my queue and has 23 hours left. I then get the annoying "You must pay on this other table first" message because arena enforces that I play the table where I've got the least time remaining. Programmed correctly, 7 Wonders table B would have been inserted into my queue immediately ahead of 7 Wonders table A (instead of just appended to the queue) so that I'd be shown the tables in a playable order.
