"UNABLE TO CONNECT TO SERVER" on turn based game

Post by King of Games »

The last couple days, when I check this game, it shows the game has someone watching named "Visitor-782226544", and I can't see my hand of cards at all, even though it's my turn to play. As a result, I can't make moves, and my clock keeps running really low.

I thought maybe the server is having trouble, but I can play other games just fine. What's going on?

You will have to log out and log in again whenever you see that error

Thanks, that worked...

But if you knew how to solve the problem, then why has no one on the website staff fixed this yet? Obviously it's a known issue...

Not everything is fixable, technology is not magic :)

This happens if authentication cookies get messed up in your browser, and the solution is mentioned in the FAQ here:

I don't think it's really correct to claim that fixing this would require "magic" rather than technology. That's kind of a silly thing to say, and belittles the point: If this problem is frequent enough to be in the FAQ, then why is the error message still unhelpful?

Even if they don't know how to fix it, or don't have the time... when that error pops up, give the player a link to the FAQ with the work-around.
