Why does the platform allow simultaneous realtime games?

Post by Wisconsinite »

I just finished a 1 hour and 40 minute game of Castles of Burgundy that consisted of me mostly staring at the screen wondering why it would take each player nearly 3 full minutes to take every turn. Then I found out apparently it's because the players are playing multiple realtime games at once on BGA.

That does not make sense to me--why would the platform allow a player to participate in multiple simultaneous realtime games? Turn based, knock yourself out. But the premise of real time is that the players are actually present and playing the game in real time.

Does the site have rules about players being in the game and not wasting everyone's time?

Is there a setting that enables me to avoid players who are currently involved in another realtime game?

Thanks

Technically... players may launch several turn-based games, but play them as pseudo real time games.
Seems one of players in your table did this.
However, starting multiple tables with real time setting is not possible.

Yes, it's called a timer.

I had a few instances back in time (few months ago), where i could open/join/start (and opened/joined/started) a real-time table after i already started playing in another one.

To start a 3rd. table, I think it was impossible, from what i recall, with the usual "error mesage" popping up ("you have a game in progress..." or something).

I considered it a bug, and it didn't happen recently, anymore.

Even though i was basically in 2 real-time games at the same time, I remember I didn't get that trophy people get when in such simultaneous situations (I assume the trophy was created for 2 simultaneous turn-based games scenarios, and my scenario was a bug).

*also, an interesting fact: in that same period of time, and even recently... if i create a table (I am host), and i also join another table which starts sooner... even though one would think I should get automatically expelled from the table I host, sometimes I stay there.
And in the period of time I mentioned above, I could even continue to manage (and start) the table I host, while I play at the table that started first.

as long as everyone doing in the time limit. it should be fine. Some people has ability to do that (simultaneous multiple real-time game.).
For me I can't, but no objection to whoever can.
