Can I turn off scoring tallies aside from end-of-game?

Post by friend_of_stomach »

Is it possible to turn off real-time scoring tallies in a particular game session/table? I've attempted to search for the answer for this but maybe my Google-Fu is just bad. Turning it off would simulate IRL play a bit more, y'know?

Unless the implementation supports it, no.

Or you could try something like making your browser window wider than your screen, and moving the scoring box outside the viewable area. But then you also lose a lot of other information. A drastic approach, for sure. :D

Of course, most games that I've seen here either have score tracks in real life, or the score is given strictly by the game state. Either way, any tally would be representative of playing in real life.

What game(s) specifically are you interested in not seeing the score?

In that case, filtering .player_score or .player_score_value with adblock or similar plugin is better. Of course it will affect only you.

The latest game was Castles of Burgundy. Though CoB doesn't have a physical score tracker, I think we all understand that anyone IRL could calculate the score each round, but realistically no one does. Beyond the Sun is another example.

The score tracker is around the outside of the board containing the tiles available for purchase. It is needed through the game, as players score different amounts for which round they complete areas on, as well as points for farm animals (the bonus points depend on the order of play).

For Beyond the Sun, the score is calculated from the game state at any time, and all information is public.

So, yeah, in real life these games would have the score available.
