So I have been getting hit with the -20 karma points a lot reciently and I admit it is basicly my fault, BUT when you start a game and it takes 4-5 minutes to start, it is easy to forget you started the game.

It is time to rethink this policy. -20 points just drives you down to zero zome times.

You will have to had to start the game to get the penalty.
If you agree to play the game then you should commit your time to do so.
The penalty seems perfectly justified. The karma display helpfully shows other users which players to avoid, and it seems to have worked here.

Right you start a game and then you have to wait 4-5 minutes for it to start and them some times longer? the penalty is 20-1. I could see 5-1 or even 10-1, but 20-1 Does that really seam ok?

If it doesn't change I will just cancel my account. I have been a paying customer for years and this is just Ludacris.

We've all had this happen. I've forgotten that I was waiting on an arena game. Such games start automatically without an Accept button - I believe also "automatic" games (I use "manual" so not sure). It's quite annoying to the people in the game who are waiting on you for a few minutes just to skip you, so the penalty is justified. The karma points go away rather quickly, unless you are a frequent repeat offender. In which case you deserve the negative karma points

You don't have to play Arena as that seems to create problems for you. If you play normal game, the game cannot start in your absence. You'd always have to click an accept button right before the game starts, so you can't miss it / forget about it.

Or is automatch the issue here? But i thought on that you'd also get the appept-prompt on that as well. Just don't play arena!

The karma system is working as intended here.

You can change your behavior and help make the site a more pleasant place to play--as is you're wasting multiple players time by failing to play the game you chose to play. Allowing others to know to avoid playing with you is reasonable if you're liable to waste their time by failing to play.

You can change your behavior here easily. Stop queuing for arena and then walking away. Learn to hit the button to leave so you don't join games you can't or don't want to play. Or just play simple mode where you have to hit accept when the table fills. To be clear most games on this site take awhile to play, seems a bit wild to complain about having to wait a few minutes for the table to fill for a game that's going to last a lot longer than a couple minutes.

I agree, it is annoying to wait 4,5,6,7 minutes... for the multiple people who are with you at the table waiting for you…

Their time is just as valuable as yours, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure you could just stop playing Arena. In normal mode, the game waits for everyone before starting, hence (apart from bugs), the game should never start without you being there and clicking on "accept". On the flip side, especially for high player count, chances are that at least one person will not be looking at their screen and take some time to click on "accept", hence you might have to wait even longer before a new game.

I agree, it is annoying to wait 4,5,6,7 minutes... for the multiple people who are with you at the table waiting for you…
