This is not just me. It is my wife. It is several friends of mine who are hardcore gamers, computer programmers, web developers, and otherwise very tech- and web-savvy people. The fact that none of us can figure this out indicates, to me, that this is a failure of the
DAMN interface, not some failure of ours (
haha, Friend Mode, amirite?). I get that I am funny in that I was trying
Friend Mode thanks to a misunderstanding of what
Manual Mode entails (
haha, point and laugh and the newbie! So funny, let me tell you!). But this is becoming more and more frustrating as I ask around trying to figure this out and I am told it is simple and that I am just not doing it right.
you can report him whit (report this player (in this case
https://boardgamearena.com/forum/member ... e&u=258112) while being on his profile, then select being insulting, the click on more for more options, then choose on a forum (copy the link of it first), paste the link, then say why he should be guilty)
edit: i did it, because i am more experimented whit this thing, just an helping in this case. I don't like those insulting players.

I agree that there's not enough documentation about this. Maybe you've find out, but I'll explain a few things, also for other people that might read this topic.
First, on BGA solo play and playing against a bot are not the same thing. The different questions you asked (playing can't stop against a bot, and playing the solo mode of welcome to) have different answers.

But, per your instructions above, I have tried
Manual Mode as well. And no matter what I do here (e.g., set the game to
Training Mode and reducing it to between 1 and 1 player), there is
STILL NO DAMN SOLO OR PLAY AGAINST A BOT OPTION!
For games that allow one player only (it must be allowed in the rules, often as a special mode, like in Welcome To), you must do like this, (training mode, reducing to between 1 and 1), but then there is no option to find, you just have to start the game, by clicking the "Open to other players" button (confusing name in this case, indeed).
But this WON'T WORK for games like Can't Stop, that can't be played with one player only.
For games that have a bot (I think there's ONLY Can't Stop at the moment): go to the lobby, in simple mode, manual mode, create a can't stop table. Then, in the "Players at this table" section, in each of the boxes representing that a player is awaited, you should have a "Play against the computer" link. Once the table is filled, you can start the game.
(And I don't think anyone was laughing at you)

this is the bit that the first poster find insulting.

You are missing that "Manual" not only allows you to join tables, but also to create new tables, and there you can find the computer opponent.
To me, it is a funny idea that you were looking for a bot in the "Friends" Mode.

My interpretation was that the quoted remark was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, and it’s not necessarily a joke at the OP’s expense. Sometimes it’s just fun to point out the situational irony when we see it, although I guess there’s a time and place for it. I definitely would not have taken it as an insult though.

So I ask you: assume, for example, I want to play
Welcome To... by myself (either solo or vs. a BOT player). Walk me through this. Take me through this
click-by-click. Tell me
where I go,
what I select,
what links I click on. Because until I see this step-by-step instruction, I am going to assume that you are all just poking fun at the newbie -- which, I have to say,
I most certainly do not appreciate at this point.

I mean yeah I can see that, but it’s really just a misunderstanding. I just felt compelled to defend this person because they don’t deserve to be reported.

Please don't report players for nonsense like this, or suggest others to do so. It was a tongue-in-cheek remark and the rest of the post was helpful.
Some people really need to grow some skin, to be honest.

By the claims of some who have appealed moderations in the past. It doesn't matter
why someone was offended, just that they were.

Is that in general or is it BGA specifically?
Anyone can be offended by anything, even if it wasn’t offensive in the first place. I’d be saddened if the report button can be used to punish people just because they don’t like them, especially if they weren’t acting in bad faith to begin with.

The claims of such were made on the forum.
