I'm not even asking that this person be banned, just that there is an option to exclude players like this in tournaments

Yet another tournament, yet another time out by *.

https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=143146

Why should we constantly have to waste time due to one bad player who quits or times out DOZENS of times per day??

*moderator edit: please stop calling the player out by name in the Forums.

BGA's implementation of "reputation" is too harsh for people with short-term difficulties, and also too lenient for people with long-term behavior problems.

For example, someone had an emergency and had 7 timeouts turned into enforced quits. They will be at 0 reputation. Yet, they are still very reputable person in the eyes of most people.

On the other hand, someone who routinely join tournaments then not finish them, can still easily farm reputation to 100. Yet, they are very unreliable in the eyes of most.

Hence, there is almost of a disconnection between reality and the "reputation" mechanism. It's just not up to its supposed purpose.

I really wish BGA staff take some consideration to the problem, and remodel the system to something closer to reality.

I wish they would, yeah. Someone with 100s of time outs and quits should be easy enough to single out as not being reputable.

To add to this, when reporting... this player, the one who enjoys doing things with national symbols, it is not that they play slowly. The issue is that they do not play at all. Really, what we need is an option to kick a player from a tournament. Maybe a particular tournament type where that is allowed, with a clear warning text applied to the tournament description?

All of that said, it's not like it is particularly likely that any regular player of this (supposedly) russian individual's frequently played games would not figure out who it is.

I created a series of tournament with 85% reputation requirement. The person who has been not playing has been 0% reputation but he could still join my tournaments. Very likely he raised his reputation in a short period of time, joined my tournaments, then sink his reputation.

My suggestion for the current reputation issue is to modify the system so tournament admin can kick out the participant who signed up the tournament but his reputation falls below requirement, before the tournament kicks off?

Maybe make it possible to reach negative reputation?
But halve all penality under 0 to make it possible to gain it back over time?
