Lilyash was the problem?
ok ok I know Im probably about to say something really stupid but ... I have no idea what means Lilyash!
To take a guess, is it marijuana ??
This is a bit sad.
Megamoon24 was sarcastic above, I think (I hope).
If you simply click on the Original Poster's name, as Meeplelowda said... it will lead you to his/her profile.
There, you will see at the top, next to the username (between brackets), the username that was moderated.
It had a 3-letter F word in it, that in general is used as a
slang (from
early 20th. century) (but originally, in UK, it meant
cigarette - from
late 19th. century, like RicardoRix mentioned).
Same as a certain 3-letter G word that originally meant happy, but then got a similar meaning (like f**, but less offensive).
Lilyash means nothing, and it's neither the OP's current username that was chosen as a result of the moderation (SongTitleLil), nor the username that was moderated (F**AshLil). I think Megamoon24 was joking.
Anyway, the moderation is perhaps ok, simply because of how common this offensive slang is, despite the initial meaning of the word.
But on the other hand, I think RicardoRix is right - saying F**
followed by Ash should be more obvious that the F word is used as cigarette, rather than the more common slang meaning.

I had never heard of the cigarette meaning before I read this thread.

That wasn't the original name.

I'm hazarding a guess you don't live in a British Commonwealth country or consume much of their media.

propose a different one, which would be checked by BGA before being switched to.
I think that would be fair, but also more work for BGA if the person was obstinate and kept trying to see how close to the line they could get. But maybe give someone the benefit of the doubt and give 'em one chance to choose a new username themself.

There is a very small cultural context which may be useful here - the original user name is a nickname that can often be given to older women in the UK who smoke heavily, it crops up infrequently (and not as much as it did when smoking was more common place in public). I just wanted to say something as I'm willing to believe there was no malice intended in the original name by the OP.
Since however the context is not very well known (and I feel like the term is falling out of use), it is probably better that the name was changed

As a British person, who has lived here almost all my life so far (Thailand soon), I'm surprised that folk would defend the old username, given that this is an international website.

Sorry,
if i've seen correctly the old name was *ash... (points =lil or something like that). As i'm no native english speakern i've asked google to do the translation for me and was directed to the site Urban dictionary which gave the translation : ashes from the end of a lit cigarette --- that doesn't seem to me like a problem ?
Perhaps the combination with .. lil ? The results of google weren't too clear : a women smoking ?
*moderator edit: if a word was already deemed inappropriate by moderators in a username, you should also avoid using it in the Forums

The first three letters of the original name are a slur in most of the English speaking world. The Ash part is fine, the Lil part is fine (it's short for Lillian or maybe Lily), it's the first bit that they've decided shouldn't be used because of how it is mostly used. The name was probably chosen without the intent to do harm (it was used for a character in a 1980s Children's show, but has been around since the 70s if not earlier), but it's such a niche context that it would likely be misunderstood.
