Therefore they are never getting any better.
Because all low elo players are exactly the same right? Hypothetically, if I make a mistake and it's met with hostility, aggression, abuse, I wouldn't be keen on asking these players how to improve either. In fact, I wouldn't want to continue the game at all.
When I started playing online hanabi on bga, I had no idea about the conventions at all (in real life with my friends we never have heard of them). So I was totally newbie. But when I saw someone answering a finesse or a bluff in a table, I asked "I'm new, can you please explain how this player played his draw card blind?" And they explained me and showed me what to read :) ofc I apologised for my mistakes, and I was trying to understand the explanations. This is why I cannot have fun with low elo players saying "I'm here to have fun, if you want to rank up elo go play with someone else" or "this is your way of playing the game, it doesnt mean its the perfect way" :\

Absolutely agree.

Played a game where someone made an error. The other player really laboured the point.
Post-game, I apologised for discarding an unmarked card (which wasn't needed) after a 2-save marked two cards, only one of which was needed. This same player was again aggressive, rather than simply accepting my apology.

Suffice to say, they won't play with me again

In ranks lower than expert, people are more tolerant to each other's mistakes and more patient. However, among masters, there is often someone keeping blaming others for their mistakes all along the game. I think people making mistakes are not on purpose for most of time. No one is perfect. Please be more polite to other players.

I always give red thumbs to those toxic players, even they are actually playing well. It is just because I am not playing for ELO but for fun. I am considering not playing hanabi anymore. The gaming environment makes life more stressful.
I know what you mean. I see it too and experience it. But I also have made very kind friends here. So I wouldn't give up. And I'd be happy to play with you, u can add me. ;)

people won't be kind if moderators don't do anything. BGA mods are numb to toxicity in this game. the alternative thing you can do is to try to make it a bad experience for those people. intentionally lose if you don't care about ELO.

You don't like people who are rude, but you advise to "make it a bad experience for those people".
That is exactly rudeness, IMO

You should better red thumb the player who's rude, instead of being red thumbed by all the players of the game.
