I have ADHD. The number of times i think i got it right but forgot to read the cross on a clue, mistook two monsters for one another (the 2 green onez often), locked the bird in fourth place instead of second place, etc.
I already get penalised. When your logic is strong and you're fast enough at solving the puzzles, which is overall my case, figuring out what was wrong and exchanging the tokens or even restarting everything easily takes 3 to 5 seconds on an easy / normal one, can even double the time on some (even more if it takes you 5 attempts to realise there WAS a cross after all)
Adding a penalty would only be more penalising (and ruin the fun with my adhd, honestly. It's frustrating enough when i misread a clue and need to restart - solving 2 puzzles insteadof one xD)
"Spamming" the button only get you that far, the onlytime i do that instead of logic are on the occasional extreme ones i take the wrong way, and it's generally a sign that it's going to take about 2 minutes to solve
The only way to go fast consistently is to use logic anyways.

Hi everyone, I’ve decided to reconsider the suggestion, and I’m wondering if I could run a test phase offering these modes:
-Wrong guess fails the puzzle immediately.
-Max 3 wrong guesses allowed.
-Wrong guess applies a time penalty (e.g., 3/5/10 seconds lockout).
-Infinite wrong guesses allowed (current system).
To be honest, I don’t see how to implement “fail immediately” or “max 3 wrong guesses,” because “failing” doesn’t mean much here. How would I handle that? I can’t just stop, there has to be a score. Would I give a huge penalty, like 100 seconds?
I’m not really a fan of adding too many settings at launch, as it’s the best way to overcomplicate the game. So what do you think, should I implement one or some of these options, and if yes, which one do you believe fits best?

I believe that extra time added for a wrong guess is really penalizing, as a simple misclick would be a big problem if you were playing a multiplayer game and lose out on a lot of time. You could implement a game mode that there is 3 attempts for easy, normal, and hard, but for extreme there is 5 for example. I don’t think that failing someone immediately is a valid option since on easy/normal puzzles you usually want to input a solution quickly, as the clues are simpler to solve. I think that the current system is fine for now, but you could maybe add the max X guesses for a mode since it would be fun to try.

You can implement failing by giving score 0 for that puzzle. This game is about logic, not guessing. Player should only press submit if he thinks his logic is correct. The option to add time penalty is good too for a more forgiving mode. But in my opinion not having any penalty by default defeats the purpose and the spirit of the game.

Oh yeah, let's punish players for misclicking in a game that's already intense with a timer. Let's give players a score of 0 for making a mistake that they made because they have to race against other opponents. Remember when board games used to be fun instead of eSports?

Yes, I won't be able to--and definitely won't want to--play this game again, if there are any penalties.
I can't even place all the pieces on the board in 15s, much less also interpret the multiple logic rules instantaneously, as it appears so many can do. I can't fathom how anyone could really spam-fill the boards to just happen on a correct solution, since I often can't even do it while interpreting the rules. And, for them to do it repeatedly to win whole games? It's that huge a factor among the already speedy? I can't piece all this together, either, haha.
I consider myself fairly logical, but I would be penalized into
oblivion. That insane speed factor of many is already not helpful, to begin with.

Hi everyone,
I’ve been closely following the discussions about how the validation button is used. I see the different perspectives: some want penalties, others don’t. But what guides me is what I call the editorial vision: beyond what’s strictly right or wrong, I’m aiming for what makes the game enjoyable for the widest group.
With this idea in mind I want to test a third option: The automatic validation.
As long as the players place their characters, the validated affirmation atomatic gain a checkmark.
And then all the affirmation are checked, the validation occurs automatically.
I feel this idea (automatic validation) could make the game more family-friendly. As players place elements, they’ll instantly see validations. Whether it’s perfect or not, I truly want to suggest this because it aligns with the spirit I have in mind for the game.
(With the help of a llm becasue my english is bad)

I just implemented a visual confirmation of the statements and an auto validation in Birds.
What's your opinion?

I really like the spirit of it, still confused at how / when it works.
Also i'm wondering if it might add some reflection time to those with a slow connexion or if its the same as before?
Merci

All the calculation is client side so you dont loose time with a slow connexion.
