The numbers don’t lie Edifice has killed 7 Wonders arena! Only 40k games in the last season down from over 100k in the previous two. I boycott very quickly and will continue to do so. I imagine 3p stats will make interesting reading. Surely multiple arenas can be setup to accommodate base fans and expansions if the demand is there.
Well of course it was the first arena season with edifices, so that's reason number 1, people are just trying to understand better the game so they tend to play less. This follows an easy reasoning, people on this platform don't like changes, so if arena introduces a new expansion for the majority of the players is bad because they are just trash at it and they start complaining about it, and this is not too distant to what happens with common balancing mechanics in competitive games when they add new features/playables.
So you boycotting this game mode will do literally nothing, you are just ruining the overall arena community. Of course if you REALLY don't like the expansion you can stop playing the game entirely, but I'm not sure it's always the case
Lastly because you like looking at numbers, current 1st player in arena is already
6 points short to previous 3p arena season
1st place. And if mid-low players are "boycotting" the game, does that mean that arena is full of high players? So why the top scores are so high? Maybe if you play better you just gain more with this setup? Who knows, in the end I'm asking to a player who's not even playing the game.

losbrugno nailed it
1) Great. 7 wonders bga eliminated 1st edition, and Edifice has nothing to do with it. If it gains traction, it could lead to IRL sales.
2) Advice boils down to let the project fail. Instead of playing traditional 7 wonders with resources into buildings and trade on opportunity on timely cards without resource yourself, you actually coin manage and hedge losses in a way where you intentionally play around Edifice projects.
The worst age I projects are 2 coin cost projects: Curtain Wall and Artisan District. Reason: penalty is grey/yellow to the point you avoid draft just to take -2VP. Worst is that not only coin cost too high, but reward not good enough.
Remember if you gain project reward, so did an opponent. Likewise if you take a penalty, so did an opponent. No player can be the only gain/lose but can be "nothing".
The stage I wonder is inherently a problem: almost all require 2 raw resources, guaranteeing 1 of 3 players having to trade to finish wonder in same age so contribution likely not simultaneously all players. If your wonder is 2 stone and you start with no Timber Yard or Stone Pit (and no Giza neighbor), then what?
Military Placard bonus is too good: low cost, high VP (Outpost, Staging Camp), safe penalty. Gold Reserves too.
Yet money can be a problem (Money Changer, Auction House). Losing coins also means participants don't gain coin reward, which is greater. Even with the reward, ultimately it's best for ... next project.
What baffles me is River Port and Factory (3 coin for Caravansary/Forum). If you actually needed the resource, project failure is devastating, yet if you don't need it, blue/brown loss is devastating, and 3 coins is a steep cost once you realize you need more coin in age III.
Funny enough, I least like the variable VP rewards (Belvedere, Amphitheater, Archives, and Agora) because you have to pay AND have your tableau have what it wants. The ratio is not favorable and neither is the penalty. I'd honestly rather lose the color card.
And then there's Concentric Castle which just lowers everyone's VP guaranteed.

I already said it in the past and I stand by it : this is the best version of the game, period.
Some people don't understand it because it's unforgiving. Some good players will tell you that it's "more random", LOL.
If you like 7 wonders and what it can offer strategically, 3p edifice is the way to go.
Do you possess the absolute truth?

I see that statement like this: base 7 wonders you and your opponents can count every possible card in 3P by the 2nd hand in an age. But there's always RNG in card distribution.
Edifice only has RNG on which projects come out, but the information is wide open from the start of the game.
Leaders may be fun but the quality disparity can cause a lopsided game.
Cities may be fun, but only 9 to 21 black cards are added in a 3 to 7 player games so there's pretty big variance.
Armada may be fun, but a "dual brown" is too impactful. If you play Timber Yard or Clay Pit, every armada board could now 1st naval construct a blue or yellow without trading, because no board has 1 ore on red and 1 brick on green at the same time (or brick on red and ore on green). If wood is on green, stone is never on red. The one armada board that had wood on red and stone on green at the same time is ... the removed yellow board from 1st edition.
Babel ... people don't talk about that.
Basically the other expansions could have high impact by what card(s) get RNG distributed. Edifice, being unrelated to card drafting, isn't subject to this.
