Ok, so now we can only lose karma if we leave a game or get punished by a moderator.
Not automatically from any player.

I would like to correct myself with some new things I observed, since my last post about this:

1. apparently, since the Karma-Drops (to 60% and 30%) disappeared, now... anyone can give any nr. and any type of Red Thumbs, independently of the nr. of Green Thumbs given (so no more 1 Public RT for 5 GT); so you can give a Public "Banner-Text inducing" Red Thumb as often as your heart desires.
The Private ones remained the same - independent from the Green Ones, the same way they always were.

2. another big difference: I noticed that EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED/TALKED WITH A PLAYER, YOU CAN NOW PUBLICLY RED-THUMB THAT PLAYER ("Everyone should avoid this person") or you can either GREEN THUMB THAT PLAYER. I am almost sure these 2 things were not possible before. You had to talk to or play with a player, in order to be able to PUBLICLY RT/GT that person.

I think this 2nd. issue is a bit problematic: if someone is desperate enough and creates, let's say... 1000 fake accounts, they can:
a. target a player with 1001 PUBLIC RED THUMBS, generating an unfair Banner Text, as well as an unfair decrease in the Community's eyes;
b. give their official account 1000 Green Thumbs to Remove their Banner (by dragging their PUBLIC RED THUMBS ratio below 10%), as well as an unfair increase in the Community's eyes.

I think some work could be done on the 2nd. issue?

Isn't the banner only viewable by the person who receives it? It would definitely be unfair and annoying, but it can't affect their reputation if no one else can see it. Unless you think moderators would act upon the 1000 ghost red thumbs and manually impose a karma penalty. I think that number of red thumbs against a single person by people who have never played with them in a short period of time would be pretty suspicious. In order to make it work, our villain would have to play the long con and get into 1000 games with the same person. Each of those accounts would probably have to play games with other people so that it doesn't stand out that it has only played one game with one person. That's a big investment of time, even if the game is Can't Stop or Lucky Numbers.

Hence the "desperate enough"...
By Community's Eyes, I meant the "moderators and the admins", not us. I should have phrased that better. :)

I think no one would find it suspicious, because if a person gets that banner unfairly, they will simply think they received it by being RTed by players whom they played with; so in order for it to look suspicious, someone (including the moderators or admins) would have to actively notice it.
And I don't think they or anyone else would, without being specifically told to look into it, or something.
I think this possibility shouldn't exist in the first place, by simply changing something in the current way these things work: giving Public Red Thumbs or Green Thumbs only to people whom you play with or talk to; I think this thing shouldn't have changed, even if Karma Drops disappeared. And perhaps that "1 Public RT per 5 GTs" rule should have stayed, even if the Banner isn't such a big deal without The Karma Drops.

And what about the other situation, with the Greens?

I don't know... I guess I understood your point, but I think you might overestimate a slight, the attention to such details or the good mind-health, that people would have.
Or I might underestimate it.
