Citation please? Or... just sharing an opinion?

(Srsly, don't the rules allow you to freely say anything you want about the cards you see? ... .. .)

Best wishes.
Where I’m from, that’s called cheating. And no, cheating is not acceptable.
BGA is going to do twilight imperium, so if you reveal your opponents hands it’s cheating right? If you manipulated someone it’s cheating right? Oh it’s a different game so you want things differently. You think it’s cheating bc you are a casual. In gaming the old saying is get guuuuuuuud.

I haven't personally seen this happen in games, but my 2 cents is that making alliances and sharing information is often part of gameplay, for a variety of board games. If it's not explicitly against the rules, it is technically inherently allowed - just like in Catan.

However, plenty of people have soft "house rules" for games that are centered around social norms of politeness - and these are present in some social circles, and absent in others. When they get violated, people's feelings can be hurt: on both sides, because they're each acting expecting different social norms. This also happens in Catan, where like 50% of people will be Very Very Mad TM if you don't play friendly robber... a thing I didn't even know existed before joining BGA. Then like 40% of people don't care either way but go along with friendly robber to meet the majority, and 10% of people don't play friendly.

My go-to for Catan is to post a copypaste in chat before playing like "do y'all wanna play friendly robber til 3 or no? I'm fine either way :D" so we can decide before board game placement. I think you could do the same with TM? Maybe post something like "Are we playing with sharing information about our cards or not? Let's decide beforehand!" in chat. It's a bit obnoxious to have to do every game, so I wish there were just a toggle to make it a hard rule or not, but so house rules go.

I forget if I’ve played twilight imperium. You’re projecting, competitive players just play the game they don’t try to “manipulate” their opponents by revealing in-game information.
