How many board game FAQs are there that include rules covering when the players kick someone out of a game IRL? :P
(If someone asks a designer how to handle a player having to leave due to an emergency, and an answer
is given, I wouldn't consider the answer authoritative, but would put it in the category of advice.)
The principle is no different to the Championship Event card that says "If you spin out, you're out of the race".

If you are at a table you could still see the text for the other one if they were doing their turn. Even though you dont see that car moving yet. Out of the text you can get valuable information like if someone slipstream or not, so you can have an advantage where others could be, before you play your cards.

Therefore this is also still friendly, because you can have extra information what normally is not known if you choose your ards together with all the other players.
