smaller company, they don't have issues very often and like another poster said, it was deep night for them. Everything seems good now so all good!

smaller company? they are owned by Asmodee for 5 years. One of largest companies in gaming at 1.6B annuallyFrodoTeabaggins wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 15:46smaller company, they don't have issues very often and like another poster said, it was deep night for them. Being owned by a company doesn't mean you automatically get all the resources of the parent entity. Sure, Asmodee *could* devote more resources. But frankly I don't want Asmodee mucking about with BGA, because they are not altruists. Those changes will come with a bigger price tag for premium. Be careful what you wish for.CautiousGambler wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 16:31smaller company? they are owned by Asmodee for 5 years. And they've had issues for months.
They have no choice. They operate a site that's available 24/7, and there's zero expectation that we have to endure less service when they go to bed.PurplePrimula wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 15:43 6 pm pacific is 3 am in France. You want them to have a whole team of people sitting around all night every night just on the off chance that the site might fall over?
No, this was definitely the right place to post. Why should game related forums be inundated with reports of site wide issues? They are for discussing the actual games, not stuff like this.Shobu wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 10:13 This is the general forum. So you believe that Asmodee is somehow acquiring BGA, using them as a database, a marketing engine, and yet at the same keeping their hands off?Meeplelowda wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 17:15Being owned by a company doesn't mean you automatically get all the resources of the parent entity. Right now BGA is an elaborate form of marketing for Asmodee. The most valuable thing Asmodee got out of the acquisition was a database of people they already know have above average affinity for board games to market new board games to. They need BGA to operate just well enough to not be a net negative. And many people don't even know BGA is owned by Asmodee. Some are probably learning that for the first time by reading these posts (it's not a well kept secret; people simply don't care). So bad opinions about BGA don't necessarily affect the Asmodee entity that much.
It doesn't excuse it, but it's not unbelievable at all. Companies generally do what works. Why would they spend more than necessary when the marketing is working perfectly for them and they know people are gonna keep using the site even if there are issues sometimes? I mean, where else people would go to play board games online?CautiousGambler wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 19:26 So you believe that Asmodee is somehow acquiring BGA, using them as a database, a marketing engine, and yet at the same keeping their hands off?
That's quite the stretch to excuse this behavior.
Right now they aren't meeting the minimum: keeping the site operating and it's been going on for months.
Not sure why anyone would be apologizing for them. Strange
Expert level cherry picking in response to someone pushing back on an oversimplification of corporate dynamics. You can review my post history to see my complaints about BGA both pre- and post Asmodee acquisition, here, for example, specifically calling out Asmodee for dropping the ball. But it has become clear that Asmodee is not hands on even when it seems it needs to be.CautiousGambler wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 19:26 Not sure why anyone would be apologizing for them. Strange
Everyone please ignore this terrible suggestion.Shobu wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 10:13 This is the general forum. There's a subforum for every game not in alpha, if bug report problem still happens, post there instead
