Can we still have no new turn based arena games one the "final days" of arena goes up, I don't want to potentially see people attempting to steal wins by creating turn based games in the final hours.

I'm saying this as sometimes in tournaments, if my opponent was unable to play at the start of the match, they're already at a time disadvantage, and I know I'm going to be around for however long that disadvantage is, I'll sometimes delay making a move by 15 minutes or something small so that they're possibly getting distracted by something else and losing time.

Although I don't like winning on timeouts, so I'll actually try to get it finished later on, but the fact the clock rules are there makes it a potential for abuse.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, which help us a lot to identify solutions to make the turn-based Arena back.

Good news: based on your ideas, we managed to add some rules to turn turn-based Arena to - hopefully - prevent the cheaters to abuse Arena ranking system. The new rules are already in place, and the turn-based Arena is back.

New rules:
  • For Arena turn-based game, for a given game, you are now forced to play on the table where it's your turn for the longest time. Example: if you have 2 Carcassonne games, you can't play on the game where it's you turn for 5 minutes before playing on the other one it's your turn for 5 hours.
  • You cannot start a Arena realtime game if you have a turn based game with the same game in progress where it is your turn to play.
  • At the end of the season, all turn based games will be stopped, and the player who consumed the most time will lost the game (all the opponents will be winners).
With these 3 new rules, we hope to solve all the cheating techniques described at the beginning of this thread. We also chose a solution that does not bring too much constraints on turn-based players.

This can obliviously evolve in the future, depending on what happened.

To conclude, we hope that all of this will show that we are taking these subjects (Arena, cheating, competition modes...) very seriously. We know that there is a lot of work still to be done on these subjects and that it does not evolve fast enough for many of you, but please be sure that we are working on it.
Thank you for the speedy resolution! On to Arena Season 3!

Rather than offering a solution, that may or may not work within the suggestion limits. I would rather describe how one could circumvent the new restrictions.

Any user could still join as many turn-based games as they wish while maintaining roughly the same progress across all such games. Once they reach the end game or they can confidently determine the winners, they could just concede or quit the games they would lose on and complete the winning games as normally.

Any games that allows for no progress turns are also entirely unaffected by the new restrictions.

Don't know if this is the right place, if I should signal a bug or report the player....
Actually playing a rallyman game in Arena mode. (game : #120011633)
The player in front STARTED his last turn, but is now in the last square in front of finish line. he's not throwing the last dice to cross the line, but can still playing in other rallyman races in turn based games.
He can't be boot out neither, I don't know why ?
Race is lost for me, but I'd like it to be finished by now as it should be.
What can be done ?

It's possible they're not even aware it's their turn.

For A: At the end of the Season, on each turn-based table still running, the player who consumed the most thinking time lose the game

This player is considered "responsible" for the way too long game, and consequently lose the game.
According to this post I'm "responsible" for the long games where I've lost this Afternoon. To my (and other loosing asynchron players) "defense":
The Way "go to next table" currently works this Arena Mode games are only presented after Normal Mode games with less than 2 days thinking time left. (Or am I wrong?)

Therefore we play slower in Games with more thinking time left, without even noticing it.

I hope there will a better solution in place for the new Season.

You are wrong to think that Kalah-4 can be won by beginners. By giving up Kalah-6, you make the game lean.

Perhaps it would help to have 2 or´3 types of "go to next table":

Option for Preference "next table order":
- least time left ("go to next table") : ordered by least time
- arena first, least time left ("go to next arena table"): ordered by game type (arena, normal), then by least time
- longest outstanding ("go to longest waiting table"): ordered by outstanding time

This could be set by each player in the top right menu under section "Preferences" like e.g. "Display game logs" or "Display tooltips".
