I would also add that sometimes friends dont really want to see posts from private groups. If you are friend with someone and he is in some private group, usually its from different game which you dont play or its from some tourney and you just dont care what he says in these groups and it just spam news feed

i agree too , a private group should be very private, who doesnt belong to the group should not be able to read and post messages

+1 On this thread. Groups should be private or change the name to restricted access or something

I fully agree with he issue of private vs. closed groups.
The thing is, what to do until BGA changes its groups settings.
Maybe, as someone said before, we should take the private conversations (the ones that may create any trouble, like who do you want or not want to invite to a game, for ex.) to a real private situation, like a chat or even an outside platform. Maybe not ask this platform that focuses on boardgames to be a group/social one, or not one with the complexity we're expecting.
It'd be awesome to have it all in the same place, of course, but since it's not possible right now... What can we do? Let's hear some options! (:

I believe many people have been creating discord group for this matter . But I do hope BGA sees this as an issue

I'm agree. It's better to keep this message for the group

I agree with it. I noticed that I can see the private group post from my friends' community. I also can make a comment below it! it is really funny for me  But I think they may not want others to see it. That's why it is a *private* group.

Caninski_Jen wrote: why in the first place exist a "private" group here on BGA. So BGA gave the people the chance for creating private groups, but in reality those private groups are more closed group instead of private..
I suspect that so-called "private" groups exist on BGA because english is not the mother tongue of BGA admins, and maybe they wanted to create closed groups more than private groups.
