Hey,

It took me some time to figure out how to play the new version. Many problems with the new interface have already been mentioned and in general I agree with many previous posters on that. No need to repeat them again. In short: the new interface did not improve the game experience.

About clues
I just want to add one thing about giving hints/clues because it was argued that the new way is more intuitiv. On the contrary. When playing offline/in real person, I also say "I will now show you all your *blue* cards" and then point at them. This way it is also easier to give 'negative' clues in "You do not have any *blue* cards". I use these clues very often and they are just as important for the strategic of the game! Please find a way to change that - where I think the old interface was reallly much much better

Why now?
I joined BGA because of this game, especially during the lockdowns it was a great way to stay connected with people and not get complety crazy being alone at home. It is an unfortunat time point to introduce the new interface now that many states are going back into lockdowns and people (at least my friend and I) were hoping to overcome this time with some Hanabi. However, the game experience has declined with this new interface and I wonder if I will continue playing.
I wonder if it would be possible to offer the players the choice of interface? I think this would take a lot of the anger away - especially given the extraordinary circumstances of the pandemic and lockdowns.

Black Powder
On a positive note: I do enjoy this black Powder options. This gives the game a whole new dimensions and a new strategic element.

Conclusion
Overall I like the idea of developing the game and giving more options However, the version is really horrible and the new way to give hints/clues made the game worse.

Please allow us to use the old interface, the new one is simply horrible as many players already wrote.

I was playing this game on a daily basis, I'm not sure I will ever play it again if the new UI is the only option. :x

Draw / Discard
In real life, I have been drawing to the right and discarding from the left.
(Of course, this looks reversed from a teammate's point of view.)
But in this new Around Table layout, players draw to the left and discard from the right?

HInt Box:
The hint box only needs to show the remaining clues. Do we need to show the discarded clues?
Instead, use that discard space for the Deck of unplayed cards? Or the fuse/bomb tokens?

Too bad we cannot break this into sub-topics.

Discards:
Our gang is senior citizens. Hard to see the discard Color on that purple background. And the numbers are way to small for our Old Eyes.

It was my favorite game, and the experience playing this new mode was truly really bad. I don't think i'll come back to playing this again, sadly.

Sorry, but no bugs has been reported about this: https://boardgamearena.com/bugs?game=1211
i remember reporting that myself too and defenetly i talked about it on hanabigf alpha group for sure no one reads groups talk?

The usability of the new version is extremely poor. Hanabi is an abstract game and a spare lo-fi graphic implementation (like the old version on BGA) suited the game and it allowed players to focus on gameplay. Look at how other abstract games like chess (lilchess.org) and backgammon are implemented online. Do you see a busy graphic implementation that seeks to mimic real life? No. So why do it here? The new design appears to be what a graphic designer thinks looks good and modern rather than what people who play Hanabi want and need in a user interface.

Please do not respond with the old cliche that people always dislike new designs but with time they will appreciate how it is better. Please take the feedback seriously and bring back the old interface.

That is only the layout but giving clues is still broken.
