Re: Please BGA, could you ban Russians and Belarusians now?

Post by dertaz »

It's not even about blocking the game for the Russian population on BGA or other sites.
Because every sane man is aware that an ordinary Russian does not decide on state matters.
But I don't see the possibility for players from Russia and Belarus to play with the flag of the Russian republic. Because when you choose a flag, you show some preferences and that you are proud of your country. I cannot imagine, during the war, to allow any man to flaunt his pride to a country that is killing, and bombing.

I think while OP seems to have the intention of doing this, I think most people that wrote here don't want a ban for all russians. It's other stuff that you wrote that people oppose - not the fact that you don't want a russian-people-ban (which I wouldn't like to see as well).

Maybe - if this discussion is supposed to be on the forum - it would be better to have it in a thread with a better name.
Check out the Allround-League: https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=7870115 --> a league where you have matches of random games vs. other players in your group. Season 9 registration oct. '25.

Agreed, hence why I urged BGA somewhere on this thread(or was it another one) to start 1 single new thread moderated by them, where they ask everyone to remain civil in discussion, and close all other threads, refer people to the same place.

Giving me a RED THUMB makes absolutely no difference to me whatsoever, but it is clear how narrow minded you all are.

I haven't played any games with any of you and I now for certain I will not be.

"You are the very first person I will Red Thumb because of things spoken on the forum."
Well, it seems that I will be the second. The debate is still very interesting if we skip the messages written from surrealism...

I do not want around people who are in favor of racially motivated death or simple revenge, not even virtually.

I will continue playing with Russians. And if they tell me that Putin is saving the Ukrainians from a Nazi government, then I will understand that they are in favor of the people but very misinformed. And media manipulation is combated with more information.

I quote again this that I published over the weekend. Seriously, this point of view is interesting, check it out...

vichy wrote: 06 March 2022, 15:38 I read this article before (more like an opinion column) which I think provides an interesting point of view.

I also leave the link to its English translation via Google Translator.

In summary:
- economic blockades that cause the economic elites to force Putin to stop, good (bearing in mind that not only the Russians will suffer, all countries will suffer)
- blockages not economic but cultural, bad

The previous one was not your last message? is this the last-now yes-final.post? Please give me a red thumb too. One of those that you do not care about but that you have narrated from beginning to end. Just in case the one I've given you for whatever it is gets lost and we meet again...

I am convinced that this thread is reviewed several times a day by every administrator who passes through here because it is, how to say, delicate....

Despite our answer about being patient and that our official action is coming, this thread has obviously gone way too far and way beyond BGA policies, so it is going to be locked.

This subject is difficult and the BGA team want to keep a cool head to find the appropriate concrete actions to do. These actions are going to be announced soon, and "no" it cannot be done quicker because the subject is complex.

Thank you.
