Big smile just disappeared from my face

. Someone please notify me when they repair this huge mistake.
Gentlemen... This game is... well.. it's HUGE. I host a monthly game, and the amount of rules clarification and "hold on while I look this up" is constant, and we play ALL THE TIME. The amount of time that it took to get this thing up and running is a staggering amount of resources, that BGA is trying to encourage people to give them a couple of dollars is absolutely within reason.
Also, remember, we now will all clamor for PoK, and eventually for Thunder's Edge... and implementing each of those will be the same, if not more work, then the base game... so settle down, pay for premium membership os BGA has the resources to continue developing the rest of Twilight Imperium and when you are sad that others cannot play more then the base 6 races, just day-dream of all the hours spent getting this thing online... and remember no one should have to work for free, least of all the excellent gentlemen who work to bring us online board games!!! they should be the highest paid among us!
Again... PAX MAGNIFICA BELLUM GLORIOSUM!!!
Sorry, but you're wrong. Turning the site into a pay-to-win experience is not an acceptable outcome. I've been a premium member for what must be a decade, but if I'm not playing with the same rules as my opponent then it is not a fair game.
I'm all for people being compensated for their work, but as the person paying, this isn't what I want.
You are 100% right.
If things like this get through without resistance, sooner or later that whole platform will be pay2win/locked content/unfair/etc.
I pay for my premium because I like the service given to me here. But as soon as I get the feeling the service starts be be enshitified like a lot of other services (and what has been done here is exactly how it starts) I am gone and never return.
I really appreciate the implementation of this masterpiece, but this should not be used as a cover up for opening panordas box of horrible changes for the customer.
I beg every user to oppose this decision and raise your voice against this and future changes like this.

I've read all the above posts, and every person who has said or echoed or typed "Pay2Win" obviously does not know how Twilight works. This is a unique game, massive in scope. FF Games really knocked themselves out (Thank you Christian T. Petersen!!) and the game is 100% fully playable, and the ability to 'win' the game is not diminished because some of the content is put behind the paywall. 100% of the game is available, you are just limited on the kinds of aliens you get to pretend to be, but NOTHING is making the game harder because you aren't behind the paywall. In fact.. speaking as someone who has been playing Twilight Imperium since 2007 (yes... I still remember the entire TI3 Tech tree, it haunts me... I don't want to talk about it) I would even say that if you don't know what you're doing? BGA gave you a GIANT SOLID by taking away the ability to play the other 11 factions. in Base game, all the factions are NOT equal, and of the top 5 strongest factions, my 'extremely informed' opinion is that 3 of the top 5 factions are in the 'free to play' factions. but again.. this is all things you choose *BEFORE* starting teh game, there is *NO IMPACT* in actually playing the game...
Also... and I don't want to rag on people too hard, because BGA has really done backflips to make sure that people can play board games here without having to pay money... but to all the people that say "I play boardgames here... but I don't see the value of kicking BGA a few bucks a year for their services..." I mean I get it... what's the cost... 50 bucks a year? that's not nothing... but if you like playing board games... and you like playin *ALL* the board games... what's a few bucks to play *ALL* the boardgames anytime you want? BGA is really something special, and they really do cater to people who want all the benefits with none of the costs... they decided to do the best board game ever... and they did it in a creative excellent way... can't we all just be grateful that BGA did the thing, and give them their nickel so we can get Prophesy of Kings?

I agree with many of the previous comments. Either have the game fully premium or fully free. "Premium factions" is the worst of both worlds.

I've never actually played but I've heard of it. Good luck ever finishing a game on here.

May all the TI fanatics descend! BGA, you don't know the Pandora's Box you've unleashed! You beat the Steam guys! Bless you! I'll probably never finish a game but gaddamnit I'm glad you put it on here. <3

useless without the proper expansions because there are other platform where we can play which are more complete than this.
But you can't play 'turn based' games, only live games, and you don't have the strength and breath of the Karma and ranking system that BGA brings to the 'table'. which means the games are stronger and more consistent.
Yes, it's (currently) only base game, but the base game is fun! it reminds me of 2017 when we played at Gencon!
I understand your statement because the base game has some balance issues, but it isn't useless, and the more they use this to drum up more support for Premium memberships, the more resources they have to develop further expansions!
again... PAX MAGNIFICA BELLUM GLORIOSUM!!!
yes you can play turn base game, the problem of other platforms is the opposite (play live games).
I think the true problem of this version isnt the vanilla, but a mix of expansions which doesnt work. for example we have newly omega 4 techs, instead old vanilla one, or some event which is from thunder edge, like civilizations and new strategy cards instead old one... i would have prefered a pure true vanilla version instead or have waited to have all expansion include, that's why i voted against to release it as a alpha tester. There are also bugs which can ruin the experience that will have to be fixed. The release has been made too early and i'm clearly not happy of that because other platforms, which clearly o wont name, made a better work with the possibility to play the complete game, with thunder edge or pok and turn based but these lacks on live support which is the strenght of this platform.
i think the developper should fully work to complete the game with the part of the expansion which are missings, and he should have already done it before the release.
Lastly is very sad to see that certain factions are locked to premium users only which is clearly wrong. Its the first time i see that some part of the game will be available only to premiums... i can understand the requirement to open a table, but i clearly disagree to lock part of the game, like certain factions, to free nonpreium users.

Very impressive
Also good luck to anyone playing turn based
More like "Good luck trying to play this real-time"
I'd rather spend a year turn-based while having time to eat sleep and go to the toilet, instead of spending hours fighting against the timer.
