But you can't play 'turn based' games, only live games, and you don't have the strength and breath of the Karma and ranking system that BGA brings to the 'table'. which means the games are stronger and more consistent.astalatasta wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 19:33 useless without the proper expansions because there are other platform where we can play which are more complete than this.
Yes, it's (currently) only base game, but the base game is fun! it reminds me of 2017 when we played at Gencon!
I understand your statement because the base game has some balance issues, but it isn't useless, and the more they use this to drum up more support for Premium memberships, the more resources they have to develop further expansions!
again... PAX MAGNIFICA BELLUM GLORIOSUM!!!

Sorry, but you're wrong. Turning the site into a pay-to-win experience is not an acceptable outcome. I've been a premium member for what must be a decade, but if I'm not playing with the same rules as my opponent then it is not a fair game.CaptainTrekkie wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 19:25Gentlemen... This game is... well.. it's HUGE. I host a monthly game, and the amount of rules clarification and "hold on while I look this up" is constant, and we play ALL THE TIME. The amount of time that it took to get this thing up and running is a staggering amount of resources, that BGA is trying to encourage people to give them a couple of dollars is absolutely within reason.
Also, remember, we now will all clamor for PoK, and eventually for Thunder's Edge... and implementing each of those will be the same, if not more work, then the base game... so settle down, pay for premium membership os BGA has the resources to continue developing the rest of Twilight Imperium and when you are sad that others cannot play more then the base 6 races, just day-dream of all the hours spent getting this thing online... and remember no one should have to work for free, least of all the excellent gentlemen who work to bring us online board games!!! they should be the highest paid among us!
Again... PAX MAGNIFICA BELLUM GLORIOSUM!!!
I'm all for people being compensated for their work, but as the person paying, this isn't what I want.

I've only played TI, once, years ago, so I'm not very familiar with it. Is it really that unbalanced that some factions literally can't win against others?Endbringer wrote: ↑14 October 2026, 23:55 Sorry, but you're wrong. Can't win is a big word, but there is a faction (Hacan) that relies strongly on trading with other players and another one that is basically space pirates (Mentak) that can steal some of that money each time. Mentak is not pickable for non-premium. A second faction Mentak is really good against is Barony of Letnev, because their flagship disables sustain damage for enemy ships. This counters basically why Letnev is so strong in space fights. I'd say its a pretty big thing that premium players can't be counterpicked in that way by non-premium ones and the other way around.mrdoctor wrote: ↑15 October 2026, 00:30I've only played TI, once, years ago, so I'm not very familiar with it. Other faction interactions also exist, this was just the most obvious one for me.
And one of the strongest factions in base game (Saar) is not available either.
I am still gonna at least try it, but we'll see ...
