Backgammon - Random dice?

Why is that I am able to predict with almost 90% accuracy what dice roll my opponent will get towards the end of almost every game of Backgammon? I thought the dice were supposed to be random? I am prepared to put money on predicting the numbers they will roll and have absolutely no doubt that if I were able to do so I would become very rich! Random dice just do not happen here!
