Moving up from Beginner

Can someone explain the requirements needed to move from Beginner level in a game? Is it number of games, wins or some scoring mechanism?
Also, I realize the green status light means that a player is online and gray is offline, but what about blue? Is that player online, but in game?

You need 30 days for be standard user. Also isn't "important" be standard or beginner because you can play without problems, after it you can pay for be membership.
Blue icon is "away".

Thanks. Problem is you can't play "Average and Above" if you're only a "Beginner".

Oh sorry, I was confused..
"Beginner" in a game is a player who never got one victory. When you got your first victory you will pass to a rank based in your ELO:
- 1599 or above: Average Level
- 1600-1799: Good Player
- 1800-1999: Expert
- 2000 or more: Master

I was just thinking about posting about this "beginner" thing. I don't think this is appropriate because someone could have played several games, be an average player, but still have that "beginner" tag just because they haven't won yet.
It doesn't seem right to be a "beginner" if you're not really a beginner, and as texascpa said, you then can't get into "average and above," even if you're 1599. If it's a game that can take a lot of people and you're good at coming in 2nd, but just don't win, why should you continued to be plagued with being a "beginner."

if you start the game yourself .. you don't have to worry about other people's game restrictions.
also, there are some expert players at some games who just turn ELO off for their games and NEVER advance past beginner status. this allows them to rack up heads up wins against other real beginners or average players. so be wary of 'beginners' luck

That can go on anywhere, and can be about impossible to completely curtail. There will always be those kind of people.
