Backgammon middle board color

Hi guys,
As someone who has pretty bad eyesight and sometimes having difficulty telling some colors apart, I usually mix up the play fields and the middle board.
My problem is, when a peg gets knocked out and placed on the middle board (either at the top or bottom), I pretty often confuse it for a valid space with a peg on it, since the fields are either brownish red or brownish black, the middle board being dark brown doesn't make it easy for me.
I would really appreciate it if the middle board (knock out area) would be either lighter (like light brown) or the lane colors to be dark black and light red (good contrast between black, red and brown) or place the knocked out peg more toward the middle.

If the suggestion gets rejected... Well, at least I tried.

P.S. In real life I do put the knocked out pegs in the middle of the middle board and there I also have depth perception not to confuse it with a lane

This came up when the game came out, although it was really more about the depth perception than the colors.

I get confused when trying to count over spaces. I know the even ones are the same color, etc., but if I'm close to the center thing, it fools my eyes and makes me think that's a space and then I get surprises when I try to move a piece. Others have complained about this as well.

Some people have problems with colors, so I don't know if that's a solution. Probably most of us would do well if there were some depth to it, so it's obvious the center is raised like it's supposed to be. Or that and colors both, make everyone happy.

(To be honest, it felt like this game was only half-done. While I appreciate the voluntary time that goes into developing a game, I feel like if you're going to do it, do it right.)
