Targi : tent that prevents opponent from playing a pawn

Hello,

In the game Targi, there's a mistake that 50% of players make. Not because they are bad players : because there is a game-changer that does not show clearly enough on their screens.

It's about a tent costing 1 salt, 1 date and 2 peppers : when it is played, your opponent gets only 2 pawns to play instead of 3 on his next turn. It is represented by one of your pawns becoming black (unusable) for that turn, but this is not visible enough and 50% of players forget it... ruining their turn, when not ruining the whole game !

I suggest something simple : in Through the Ages, when 2 players are at war, there is a black rectangle on top of the screen that remains until the war is finished, and this is perfectly visible. I suggest the same type of message is used in Targi in the situation I just described.

Actually, when you play that card, you get an alert message on your next turn stating that "your opponent will only put 2 targis this round". But, if I'm not mistaken, there is no message for the opponent.

So it would be just the case to duplicate the alert.

There is a message for you and your opponent.
Still, the message does not stay on screen for the whole turn, and a large proportion of players misplay that. This is why a message like the one for "War between players" at Through the Ages would be more adequate. People don't forget to react to war at TTA, thanks to that message.

I had this problem for not realizing I had 1 less targi to play in a game just yesterday. But I didnt remember to get the message whatsoever. But considering it was a roundrobin tournament and I was playing 9 games at the same time, maybe it did show and I just skipped it.

But yes, I agree. It could be a little more explicit. Specially for turn-based games.

Any reaction from the developers or the webmasters on that ?
Thanks :)

No strong opinion on this. I think it's visible if the player pays attention, but since you say it happens a lot I don't have anything against making it more visible. Not sure a black rectangle would go well with Targi interface, though.

Please file this as a suggestion for Targi in the bug reporting tool so that I take a look at it next time I check on the game (might not be before a while, I have other things lined up).

Thank you Een, that's really nice. The bug is reported.
