STONE AGE adquired tech cards

Post by Morgalad »

I really miss sometimes to be able to look at the cards of other players, like in Tokaido or Seasons.
It should be possible as in the board version to look at other players bought items (cards and huts) to plan your stategy.
;;

In the board version, cards aquired are supposed to be placed face down, and other players cannot look at them. So BGA is right about this.

The huts are intended to stay visible, but BGA shows you the score of players and number of huts, which is pretty similar.

Hi,
You're absolutely right, my memory failed about this point... reviewing the rules it clearly states to store them faced down.

(it's been a while since I played the board version, I mostly play it online)

This post made me to play last weekend the "original" game to revisit it, There is something that we could add to this point.
As confirmed the tech cards are stored faced down but you can see the number of them in his tablet. Could we add a counter to know how many cards a player has already bought?

I've always assumed you can't know how many cards and my group plays that you don't, but I did go look it up.

My 2008 RGG rules say:

"Each player stacks his acquired civilization cards face down on the designated space on his player board."

To stack implies squared up so that you can't see how many. While I realize different versions of the rules have slight differences, I can't imagine they changed this, and the space on the player board doesn't allow for fanning out the cards, so the best you could do would be estimate by the size of the stack.

So my vote is no. In my opinion, part of this game involves paying attention to what other people are doing. I'm not really very good at memorizing stuff and "counting cards," but I don't expect rules to change because of something in a game I'm not very good at.

EDIT: But if this got you to pull the game out again, that's at least good. :D
