-Invite everyone on the suggestions list.

-Don't make the table requirements too restricting.

-Post in the main lobby. Say something like "Palaces of Carrara +1." I do this fairly often because some players who don't have the game on their suggestions list will join.

-If it's a 3+ player game, keep the other players at the table updated so they don't get impatient and leave. Tell them that you would like to wait for more people.

-Make friends with people who like the not so popular games. That way, when you're all online, you can contact each other and play together. This is the method that worked the best for me. I have a group of solid, reliable players for unpopular games that I can depend on.

-Play during peak hours. Right now, it's 12:57AM EST in my time zone, and there's barely anyone on. A few days ago, it took almost 20 minutes for me to start a Legendary Inventors game around this time.

Also, consider turn-based games...
I seldom have 45 minutes to sit down and play a game, but I usually have 10 5-minute periods throughout the day to make a move.

make a friend while playing a game, ask them what game they like best on the site. Learn that game and then play that game with them.

Next time after a game ask them if they want to play *your* game with you, you can teach them the rules.
