What to do with buggy game after report it

Post by camolatte »

Hi, I'd like to ask for advice what to do about a buggy 2-player game after reporting a bug. I try to find an answer for this on FAQ and couldn't find a satisfying answer.

It's been 6 days since I give further explanation on the bug and I understand there's waiting list by priority and it took time to resolve each bug. I'm just wondering what should I do about the ongoing buggy game while waiting for uncertain time..

Should I..
- leave the game and suffer the penalties?
- keep playing even though it's impossible to win with the bug in favor of the opponent?
- concede?
- let time run out and getting kicked out by opponent?
Seemed like all choices are unfair.

I already tried proposing to opponent to quit together and I was ignored

Your opponent probably didn't see the abandon proposal.

You should send him a private message explaining that he has to accept considering the bug.

Hope this helps.

Um not to correct a site admin, but.... (and this could very well be unfamiliarity with the English language on Souris's part)

I don't believe someone has to accept an abandon, even though they definitely should accept it. Has implies no choice in the matter. Should implies choosing the option with the best outcome.

However, if I recall correctly, exploiting a known bug is a listed option for why a player is deserving of a public red thumb. It displays an attitude by the player that they value winning over fair play, and should be avoided by those seeking to have fun on this site.

As for the options available to a player losing because of a bug. While none are good, the ones that will do the least harm are to keep playing or concede. These avoid the penalties for leaving the game. Since this sounds like a turn-based game, I would definitely make at least one more move to ensure that the other player sees the table, and therefore sees the proposal to abandon (assuming they haven't already). There has been precedent of Een and sourisdudesert cancelling effects of wins/losses on buggy games, too.

Thank you for the advice, sourisdudedesert and Jest Phulin

Before posting this, I have sent an in-game chat asking him to abandon, then continue the game once to ensure he see the abandon request. He ignore it, so I post this here.

I'll send him a private message then, if also ignored, I guess I have no choice but concede since continue playing also result losing with more time spent.

You should not assume your opponent saw your message if it is turn based, they could easily miss it (or may not be familiar with English).

And when you explain you should include a link to the bug report. There are (unfortunately) players on the boards who will try to abuse claims of bugs to get out of losing positions. If your opponent has had issues with that sort of player they might be quite reluctant.
