I frequently find that I start a game, an opponent immediately joins, I click "start," and then the opponent never accepts. Eventually the acceptance period expires and I get a message saying that not all opponents joined in time. This happen before Simple Mode was created but only rarely. It is a daily occurrence now. The most likely explanation is that the opponent is using Simple Mode, getting joined to tables automatically, and not paying attention or noticing requests to accept. To make room for an opponent who is actually interested in playing, I have to either expel the inactive opponent or quit and start a new game. Very annoying.
Here's my suggestion: When a game-start gets cancelled because not all players accepted in time, the players who did not accept should get a message saying something like this:
"The game was cancelled because you did not accept in time. As a courtesy to other players, please only join games you intend to play. If you are using Simple Mode, please be sure to watch your screen and then respond promptly when you have been added to a table."
Ideally, a player who repeatedly ignores accept requests should get some reduction in their reputation score.
I'm tempted to give red thumbs to players who do not respond to accept requests, but I think that may be an over reaction. Opinions?
