A new architecture for BGA

Today, a huge maintenance operation has been performed on Board Game Arena.

As you know, on BGA you can play from your browser real-time. To achieve this, Board Game Arena web pages are refreshed in live - unlike most of others websites. Today, we upgraded the component we use to refresh your browser in real-time.

As it is now, there is no direct benefit for you. But in the near future, this new component will allow us to upgrade the speed of the real time updates, and to make the real time connection more reliable.

This change was huge and difficult, and caused many issues today. Of course all penalties will be removed, and we're sorry for you if you experienced difficulties today.

In the following days, we are going to fix the remaining issues. For this we need your help: don't hesitate to signal bugs on the forum, and don't forget to specify which browser you are using (ex: Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 9, ...).

EDIT: because of too many issues, previous architecture has been restored temporarly.

I'm also on Firefox (not 11; unsure the version number, but it's fairly recent), and I'm having problems. I 'join', but I sometimes have to refresh with F5 to see that I actually joined. Same thing if I choose to 'quit'.

Same issue for me: Firefox doesn't register when I've joined or left a game. I have to refresh.

I'm on Safari 4.1.3, and it's difficult to play. I need to refresh nearly every time an event happens, which makes some events tricky (in Dominion, I can't figure out which card is destroyed by Swindler, for example). It is also pretty much impossible to post a message, because I cannot get it without refreshing (and if I refresh, I've lost the message...).

The upgrade may have been necessary, but I'm not convinced right now that it was a good choice...

firefox user here as well - noticed that the refresh is required VERY often in the lobby and before a match starts. in dominion, once the game starts, everything seems to go smoothly, but seeing when others join and also seeing the game start pop-up has been a challenge. also, i can't seem to get the dominion replays to work, so that could be associated with this issue.

I am using Google Chrome 17.0.963.83 m, the newest version and playing two player Hawaii. I had to refresh after every placement and and every row selection, mine and my opponents. I also tried it with internet explorer and it was the same thing.

Problems when you open a new game: system tell me that i'm disconnected and reconnected, and i need to make a refresh for to have a correct web page. Also, when a player join, there are some problems, and you have to refresh to understand if the player have joined or not.
When you go from "join page" at the game screen, you have to refresh.

I don't know which architecture you have up right now, but Explorer 8 seems unable to allow me to play any game. Constant disconnections, constant need to hit refresh, cannot succeed in sending messages in game, etc. Lobby chat is also not working.
