my avatar WAS intentionally pixelated. Now it's blurry

I appreciate the admins are working hard to improve our experience here. Perhaps they thought my deliberately highly pixelated avatar was just a low resolution photo, and wanted to make it more viewable. But I want my big blocky pixels back. Is there any way that can happen? Thanks.

Hi

You can update your avatar from "preferences / avatar" section. There is no problem to use a pixelated one. Your current avatar is an automatic conversion from the low resolution avatars used before so it logically does not look good.

Thank you, but. My avatar choice was deliberately pixelated. I prefer my aesthetics over your logic. If I upload my avatar again, will you blur it up again?

And I prefer cuteness over aggression; have you tried reading the sentence you're replying to? Just upload a higher-resolution image of whatever you think looks good, nobody is going to convert anything – until BGA decides to change avatar resolutions again in the future!

Yeah, no one did this on purpose to you specifically. When the site changed avatar formats, everyone's avatar got rescanned, and most ended up looking junky. We all just had to upload new ones. Nothing malicious or covert here. There was even a news post about it.

Sorry I should make clear that pixelated means it looks like a low res image magnified, with big pixels. That's the way I want it.
