I am new to this site so while I am learning a game is there anyway to play without being recorded and ranked on points?

Yes it's possible: a game can be set to "training mode" by the table admin (the player who started the game table). No elo points, no time limit, no penalties. There are few tables created in training mode, so you'll certainly have to create one yourself. If you do so, you can edit the presentation text for this table, so that it's more visible for players willing to join that this game is set in training mode.

I will point out all games are still recorded even if they are training mode. As for going unranked in training mode it really does nothing because your Elo starts at 0 and cannot go down...so you don’t lose anything by playing in normal mode.
