Point system for Arena mode for Platinum level

Hello, I am struggling to go up to Diamond level from Platinum, and I have a question for the point system.

I get it when I become 3rd, I lost 2-4 points, compared to level of players. Also, if I am 2nd, sometime I get 1 point, or lose 1-2 point, or nothing.

However, when I won 1st, and 2nd player has more XPs (but bronze), but I didn't get any points for ARENA as you can see from the photo.

Could anyone explain the point system?

Arena rating is different from alltime rating. It doesn't matter if your opponents have 100 or 500 ELO, all that matters is they're currently bronze.

Bottom line: avoid players that are too many levels below your own rating, as you have nothing to gain.

The thing is, you always get zero points against players that are more than 2 leagues below yours (but you can still loose points against them). ELO and XP don't affect points in Arena, only the current league of your opponents affect Arena points.
You can restrict opponents to certain leagues near your own league by clicking on the cogwheel next to 7Wonders Icon in the lobby ->Extended Options ->Opponent Level.

I take this thread as the occasion to state the following thing to ALL DIAMONDS AND ELITE PLAYERS: please restrict the opponents to only +1/-1 opponents. And when the Elite league has about 50 players, I'd restrict the games to the Elite level only.
Why ? Because if you accept lower league players, you're basically FEEDING them the shields to advance. Due to chance, the low ranked players will sometimes win a game versus diamond-like players (or even just finish 2nd) and win a lot of shields. Those players should earn the advance by beating opponents of their league BEFORE entering higher-ranked league.
Otherwise, we woud end up like last season with 500 elite players, which destroys the concept of the Elite league since it's impossible that the 500 players are great players

I Just had this experience before visiting the forum: a player left in my game and I lost 2 points...
