Real 2 players games

Post by Chaky »

I was looking for some 2 players games suggestions in the game selection of BGA, but it returns all the pseudo-two-payers games like 6nimmmt etc, which are not suitable for 2 players actually.
Is there a proper list somewhere of the games really suitable to play on 1v1?

Regards.

I don't think there is, best thing you could probably do is to filter according to "short playtime" as well:
here
Except for Coup and Sushi Go (I think Can't stop is better too with 3+ players but w/e). The other games are mostly 2p games.

Though I don't think this even covers half of the 2p games..

Noir, Targi, Kahuna, Quarto, and Jaipur were all designed as 1v1 games. (Well, along with the public domain games like kalah, chess, checkers, backgammon, senet....) Quoridor can be played either 2 or 4, but works better at 2.

There are undoubtedly more, these are just the ones I like.

There also a unpopular game: metromania

Can be 2-4 but you can play 2 players whit two possibilities

1. normal
2. 2 societies per players

I'll add to the mentioned before: (games for from 2 to more players, but working really well as 2 player games)
Eminent Domain, Taluva, Quantum, Takenoko, Can't stop, Kingdomino, & Hanabi (but in Hanabi there's quite different feeling of the game than on other player count)

I played hundreds of games of Love Letter with two, it is much more strategic than with more players, so it's the better game with two.

Same can be said about Innovation.

As for true 2-player games, I like Lost Cities, Go and Kahuna. Others are e.g. Jaipur and Dungeon Twister.
