Turn Order Question/ Discussion in Terra Mystica

Hi there,

I'm relatively new to Terra Mystica - wonderful game.

I'm hoping some experts here can clear up for me how turn order is set after the auction. It doesn't seem to follow any set rule so maybe it is random?

The settings I have played on all of my games are the same as in arena:

Game Mode: Normal
Game Speed: Normal
Game Board: Base
Faction Board: Factions Selected by Auction
Turn Order: Variable Turn Order
Mini Expansions: On
Landscapes Expansions: On

If someone can let me know that would be awesome. Sometimes in the auction I would prefer to play a certain faction if I knew I was going 1st vs. 4th in the order specifically because some factions can have access to different first turn moves when going 4th.

The round 1 turn order is the same as the order the factions were selected. For example, if Darklings were selected first in faction selection, then whoever bids highest on Darklings will play first.

Got it! That makes so much more sense now. So the faction is put into the auction with an associated turn order.
