Game didnt load --> Penalty (late + quit)

Hi guys,
First of all, I'd like to thank the community for creating and maintaining such a great website and forum! I registred a few days ago and already have done more than 100 games with nice people thanks to you guys!

Today, I tried to play 7 Wonders again but the game didnt load (see https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=18247 for the bug report).
Because of that, I got 2 penalties: 1) my time was exausted and 2) I had to quit the table (the issue was only on my side, the other players where all ok according to the chat)

Is it possible for an admin to cancel these penalties?

i had the same thing happen to me today and my Karma went from 100% to 80%

Same for me today in a game of 6Nimmt. I looked back through the log and found out I joined the game ( I do not recall it starting), but then I never took a turn. Karma down to 80%. I noted that when I was trying to join games at around this time (using the automatic feature) one game I joined at one point (which I don't think started) everyone had 80% karma, including me, and I thought it was odd. Is/was there some wider issue?

I've just had the same thing happen with 6nimmt, and taken a 20pt karma hit. I didn't even know the game existed, and I see the same happened to 4 of the other 5 players.

Is there any way to challenge an automatic decision like this?

Likewise with Carcassonne. It was working fine for two games, then the third game wouldn't load. Tried two more times and now I'm down to 70% karma Total bummer and feel bad for players who are waiting for me when I can't even communicate with them. Wondering why this happens.

Is it coming from the server load that was too high or is it an actual bug?

This is very easy to know if it comes from the server:

We publicly display the number of moves played in realtime on this page:
https://boardgamearena.com/serverstatus ... ves_played

If, at the time where you had the issue, there was no "drop" of the number of moves played, it means that the service was fine. In the past days there have been no problem (and especially, no problem on load), so there is a little chance that it comes from here.

Second clue: if the other players were able to play after they expelled you (and sometime: if they were able to expel you), there is a high chance that you were the only one to have this issue at your table.

Finally, we got this tool below where you can check your connexion troubles. It can't test everything, and it can only test your connexion at the exact moment you use it, but it has some troubleshoot tips that you can use:

You provided very few informations about each of your case, so this is very difficult for me to help you more. However, by experience, 99% of "game do not load" problem comes from:
_ Internet connexion => try from another internet connexion (ex: your phone) and see if it helps.
_ Browser extension (like ad blocker) => try to disable ad blockers for BGA, or to play using your browser "Private mode" which disabled all plugins.

Thanks for the links and explanations, that's good to know about these tools etc! If the same issue happens again, I'll check the server load and run the "troubleshoot" tests too

I can't tell for the other members but from my side, I made a bug report + screenshots. I feel like that I shared all pieces of information I have but let me know what is missing and I'll update the report accordingly.

In my game of 6Nimmt, I had no indication a game was in progress (I was trying to "auto join" games, but with 6Nimmt, you often attempt to join a game, then someone refuses to join, and you bounce back and forth whilst waiting for a game to start) but when I realised and looked back at the game, I can see I made no move, but the other players all picked a card, then when I failed to play, kicked me out and all quit the game. So the issue does seem to have been just for me.

As I did not know a game was in progress without me (I believe I played another game at the same time, another 6Nimmt) then the above tool you provided to check my connection problem would not have been useful.

The game in question (link below) finished at 00.28 on the 29th May (it took 20 mins). I then finished my next game of 6Nimmt at 00.34 (this game took 26 mins) so you can see there was some crossover that I was somehow allowed to be in two real time games at the same time (they effectively started in the same minute), which I did not think was possible.

I am not worried about my penalty points etc, but it seems there are quite a few people either reporting or being affected by the same issue (from both the above responses and the other players I saw in subsequent games that all had 80 karma points (having obviously just suffered a similar penalty) so thought the further info may help you to check there is/was no errors or issues.

I had had several games offered but then cancelled because other players didn't start them. At the time I accepted the second game, there were no others currently listed -- and the fact that every other player also left before it timed out after 72 minutes (!) is a fair indication there was something wrong. However, I was given a leaving penalty.
