The changes feel unnecessarily drastic, like changes for the sake of changes. Changing Arena? Completely revamped wonders? New blue chains? WTF, seriously?

New art looks unnecessary, too. 7W art was pretty much as close to perfect as it can get, very few games have art of comparable quality. Why change it?

If they decided to change something which is indeed broken, they should've started from Wonder Pack (boards aren't balanced at all), followed by Cities (the same effect on gameplay could've been achieved by adding a pair of dice, the entire expansion is just a big randomizer).

Hopefully the first edition will be still playable on BGA.

Looking very much forward to this new version, as the current version has some slight balance issues. Hope this gets implemented in BGA soon!

I really like the "7 wonders duel" style approach used to redesign the front of the cards: I never liked the chain symbol to be placed at the bottom, it is now on the top right and in my opinion it is better as it is more readable.
The backs are nice too but I fear like the shiny effect doesn't last well after too many games.
The day/night artworks on Wonders is also a good idea as you easily know if face A or B is used.
I believe that the designers had the Roman empire style in mind to redesign the war points tokens but to be honest, 3rd reich came to my mind first and that's clearly not a great feeling... :? Based to the comments on the youtube video, it seems like that I'm not the only one feeling that. If someone from Repos comes here, I'd suggest to rework tokens a bit more so no confusion will be possible.

If only this updated was just a matter of graphic style, I'd be happy with it. However, it is coming with gameplay changes so this new version is not compatible with expansions published up to now. This is THE major issue for me.
They say that the new adjustement will make the game better balanced and I'd be happy to learn new strategies to adjust to these changes. But there is just no way that I'll pay again this game and its expansions a 2nd time. I added Armada to my set a few month ago and it is already outdated thanks to this update, that's not really what I was expecting from Repos...

Should I fear for my Duel & Pantheon expansion?!

I've emailed Greg poiting to this thread, and asking for input from an admin.

Being a premium game it's obviously going to be a more complex license than a free game.

Here's a list of pertinent questions I have about what might happen with it:
  • Is there a status on whether the convo with Repos about this has been started, and can general status be shared with us?
  • Dependant on the above, what sort of timeline would we looking at?
  • What would be required for 2nd Edition -- would it be in-house devs, or community? Assume either way it'd need sign-off by Repos before go-live
  • I'd be interested to know if it does come to BGA, will there be a choice of playing either edition (perhaps defaulted to 2nd Edition -- or a separate entry on games list?!) or will it be a replacement for the current version?

Hi.

Sorry but we can't announce anything (general policy of BGA: we annouce things when they are there :) ). All I can say on this is that we are perfectly aware of the situation and are working hard to make sure 7W adaptation is the best we can provide on BGA.

Hopefully see you soon for more news.

As I said, hopefully 7 Wonders will still be playable on BGA.

I suppose just like Through the Ages, the old and newer versions are both available in BGA.

Hopefully this will be the case...
Please check my profile for a list of bugs that need upvotes so that BGA will maybe get around to fixing them.
