ELO question

Post by Sushiyum »

Curious about why the higher elo second place player lost less elo than the lower elo second place player (who even had more numbers on their board) :-

Anybody?

If you mouse over the ELO adjustments, it will expand all the calculations. In this case, the two second-place players have different k-factors, leading to different ELO adjustments. The game situation of "more numbers left on their board" is never taken into account unless it is specifically a tie-breaker listed in the rules, in which case it would have make them both not be second place.

The numbers left on the board is only relevant when more than 1 round is played. So the other 2 players tie in 2nd place. And then it's all down to K-factor, which is related to the previous number of games played.
