I've started seeing this message in the game log (not in the discussion). My search turned up nothing. Is there now a way to put this message into the log?

It's one of the standard chat messages you can send.

Many games have an option up near the top to click on some text that drops that chat message in automatically. I know I use it a bit in Terra Mystica when I know I'm going to think for the next 2-3 minutes and don't want my opponents concerned that I dropped out or something.
