Concept and localization

Hello,

I'm in the middle of translating the Concept boardgame (which is initially a french game, talk about going in circles), and some of the clues (words you are supposed to make other players guess) in english are clearly thought out for an american audience, like "Beetle Bailey" (a comic strip apparently ?), "Allen Ginsberg" and such.
I haven't touched these, because it seems to me such clues would very rarely be recognized by french-speaking players ; however I haven't either taken the initiative to try and localize them.

I have the physical french version of the game, but there's no way to easily know which clues in french I could "substitute" to these english clues, or if they correspond in any way. We could just (not) translate them as is, but I feel this wouldn't be a great experience for french players.

What do you guys think ? I guess no initiative can be taken to "alter" the game in any way through translation, but this seems to me like a difficult case.

Since this is specific to a game, it would be best to post in the forum for this game so that the developer can give some feedback (he is French btw).
NB: as the game is just out to beta, the forum for the game is not created yet, but it should appear automatically in about one hour.

Yes, actually those translations originated in some old files. We have made a cleanup, and now only strings that are really to translate are left in the translation system. So you were right to wait on this :) Thanks for reporting this!
