Bids in BETA

Post by Bids »

Hi all,
Bids is nog available in Beta!
It is a card game for 3 to 6 players where you are bidding in 10 turns for the black cards in the middle of the table. The highest bids always wins the number of points that are in the middle, but has to start bidding for the next card. So do you play safe and go for the low points or do you risk everything for the high cards? And there are also some special cards to spice up the game!
Players can also choose to go for the 'lucky loser points' by not obtaining any black point cards. The game is played in several rounds of 10 turns, and the lucky loser points increase the more rounds you are able to avoid any black cards.

I changed the default settings because I think the color variant is more interesting for BGA players, while in reality usually the basic game was the perfect game to start with. Let me know what you think should be the default setting :)

I think for players new to the game, no colors is a better default. When they are comfortable with that, then some will choose to play colors, like many of us pick 'Professional' variant of Nimmt. But don't scare people away.

I also think colors would be more interesting with more than 4 players. So far, I've only played 4 player games.

6 Players and Ally card

Post by 57erniepyle »

Minor bug. I set the number of players to 6 with ally card off. I get an error saying that the ally card must be on (not sure why). I set ally card to 'ok' for either yes or no, and it still gives me an error saying the ally card must be on. So evidently the condition must be that the ally card cannot be off, rather than that it must be on.

I think that if I have 6 players and Ally card OK both off and on, it should be smart enough to pick the on if you really think on is mandatory.

Also not convinced that Ally needs to be on for 6, but you know more about the game than I do.

I can't report this as a bug because bga wants a specific game number and this fails before the game starts.
