Banners ads in Potion Explosion?

I am a subscribing member of the site and I've never seen ads until tonight, when I saw what appeared to be banner ads at the top of Potion Explosion (for Kickstarter and some sort of upcoming event). I was challenging my sister to the game. She is not a site member and yet she says she saw no banner ads. What's going on with banner ads? When do they appear? And why do they appear for a site member and not for a non-member? Thanks.

Years ago I saw a banner for Hive world championship at the top of Hive. If it is not a random monetizing banner, I wouldn't mind.

It's probably a Kickstarter by the developer of Potion Explosion. The same happened for me by several games by Queen Games.
