Extremely Obvious Abuse of the Moderation System

Post by dspyz_tmp »

I'm trying to get a mod's attention so I can get back into my account (`dspyz`). It's been a week and there's been no progress. My opponent was extremely obviously abusing the moderation system so I'm sure no human has looked at this. I don't know what to do.

In order to proceed I have to affirm that "I've read and understood the moderation, and I agree not to do this again" which is simply not true, because I didn't do anything in the first place. How can I get this fixed?

Unfortunately, claiming to have been offended has been enough of a reason for the other person to be moderated: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... =3&t=17208

I suppose your opponent could somehow argue he felt "taunted" by your reply. Completely ridiculous, especially considering his earlier messages (not to mention the nickname), but that's the only remotely sensible explanation.

Perhaps N_Faker will chime in on this; he seems quite knowledgeable on the subject.

Are you still moderated? It looks like your moderation was removed.

Regardless of what the moderation was (I guess the moderation already finished technically or, most probably, was just a warning), I think he does not want to click the "I understand and agree..." box, which kicked in when the moderator decided to moderate him for the report he got.

I understand his refusal entirely, if the moderation was just for "heh".

So I guess he will be unable to access his account or the site, as long as something won't make the "I agree" page disappear (by ticking or otherwise).

You are right, it is a 'no penalty' warning. I first assumed that it was applied in error, by mixing up the 'report author' and 'accused'. But it appears to be deliberate, due to the 'no penalty' warning, and that OP was therefore found to be provoking Major_Cox. Maybe BGA is taking the "You must NEVER respond to provocations/insults because we punish BOTH players." literally now. I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me.

This isn't a first either and moderations like it are probably not that uncommon. I've lost the confidence in the moderation on BGA, which is why I'm not a moderator here anymore.

The moderation hasn't been removed.

Yeah... It is sad. But we learn and move forward, to new horizons.

Dspyz, if you want to continue playing with your moderated account, I am afraid you will have to tick the "I understand and accept (...)" (even if you didn't do anything!), and to hope it won't happen again.

Hi,

We just checked the report and obviously this was a mistake from the moderators (confusion with accused player), which has been fixed (report re-qualified as non guilty). Sorry to dspyx about that.

The moderators have a lot of work, with a lot of reports, so this mistake happens.

However, complaining in the forum is inefficient since the proper way to appeal from the decision is to use the Contact form. Having these messages in the forum just contribute to slow down the process and make it less efficient. In addition, if there is a mistake in the moderation, this is a particular case, and this does not interest anyone but the the original poster and BGA.

In the future, all similar post will be closed and the author will be invited to use the Contact form.
