AITA for Running out of time?

So I was in a turn based Clans of Caledonia game where I believe the time limit was fast 8 moves per day game from 12 pm to 12 am my time.

So we were about 40% into to the game and I don't have a lot of extra time to make my move. I attribute this to normally bed around 10pm my time and a few Ill timed stuff coming up when I need to make my next turn, thus leaving me with a decreasing clock time.

Today I'm feeling like absolute crap having not taken my medication and was meaning to use one of those time joker things in order to increase my time, but accidentally slept through when I needed to take my turn (side effect of no medication for me). As a result BGA sent me a email saying I was running out of time at 1pm and then at 1:30 pm it informed me that I was kicked from the game from having negative time. And now, while I know it doesn't really matter, I'm still super upset that my reputation has tanked from what seems like being only 30 minutes late for my turn. I mean I know I can play the game during the specified time period, and I try to check if it's my turn to do something before I like go to bed. To to me it just like I got really unlucky with how the in game timer lined up with irl stuff and it all seems very unfair.

So am I the a**hole for not being able to make the time limit for this game?

everyone has different limits before they will kick someone out. most people won't kick you out for going slightly over, so you just had an unfortunate situation with an opponent that pounced on kicking you out as soon as they could.

Time is a game resource, so I think it's always fair to kick someone if they've gone over.

I wouldn't call anyone in this situation an a-hole.

Life happens to everyone and gaming is never the #1 priority. Now you know that 'fast' settings might not be a good fit for your asynchronous gaming here.

I wouldn't consider you any type of hole, but considering:
*every game lists what the expected play speed is
*in the case of fast turn-based games, the time that the clock is running is displayed (and in local time, so no need to calculate)
**both of these are displayed before you join the table
*a warning is given reminding you that you are playing against real people

I would say the responsibility is yours. You even chose to not use the time joker when you first decided you needed it, but instead planned to use it at the last possible moment.
