Why are players allowed to Expel anonymously?

I will often play collaborative thought games, such as Hanabi. These are team games that take everyone concentrating. It is common that players may run out of time when considering a move. It is usually not an issue. Some players are impatient, and attempt to expel a player out of time, without even inquiring in the chat about the other player's delay.

Why should this Expel function be secret? Anybody at the table can do it. I've even seen the table administrator get expelled by someone else, which I think is completely wrong. I can understand in the case of someone not being present or answering, but the complete inconsideration of doing this in a team game is unacceptable to me.

At least, if this information was available, a player would have the option of choosing not to play with someone who would engage in this manner. Also, knowing that it is public would presumably cut down on people doing this out of spite, which happens.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thank you.

It is not hidden who expelled people. It is stated in the game log

I've not seen this in any game I've played. The attempt to expel is not even shown to other participants of the game. Are you saying it is only registered who expelled whom after it is complete, but in process, it only shows up to the person being expelled?

No, I said that it's started in the log who expelled someone else. So, yes that's only stated after the expelling has been done, the system doesn't know before the fact. I didn't get that you wanted to know the before part, as that seems very unimportant to me:
someone clicked a button that hasn't triggered anything, and that fact alone makes you want to not play with someone anymore? I really thought the expelling was what you wanted to know about - not the clicking a button that in effect maybe only played a sound for the active player so that (if he has tabbed out or something) he might be reminded it's his turn.

You are right in so far as when starting the process it isn't shown who has started it but the fact that it has started is shown in the log for everybody to see. So when that log message comes up and you got some arguments to stop the expelling from happening, you can just type in the chat and convince the others.
Even though you might not be sure who clicked that button, you can be sure that everyone who might've clicked it can read what you wrote.

1. If for instance, everyone leaves the game without reading game log, after X expels Y.
Is there a way then to go replay game and see who X was?
Or you can only see while the game log is still on, in the game, before exiting the game tab?

2. What is written in the log of the game, when Y quits, without getting expelled? (no out of time reached, so quitting out of a sudden)

3. What happens when X clicks the expel button of Y, but in those 20 seconds, Y quits, so no need for any expulsion ?

*it might be because i was not paying enough attention, but I don't remember ever seeing in the game log "x expelled Y' or whatever.

Sure, just go to "Replay Game". Like this: https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=170500718
On move 4: "WineLove is out of time, so dschingis27 skips his/her turn"

"dschingis27 is going to lose this game whatever happens."

I think this hardly ever happens. Probably this will still be shown if Y is dschingis27: "dschingis27 is going to lose this game whatever happens."

Merci. I think I have to pay more attention to these things.

For instance, in 2., i sometimes saw that text (at the end of a game, mostly), but I never associated it with quitting.

I thought the game calculates all the chances, and says that a certain player will be last, no matter what happens, so game-wise related.
