Toilet breaks during longer games

Hi there

I love to play games here but i am feeling uncertain start a longer game. During face to face gaming it happens that you grab a beer or some chips or take a quick toilet break. How do you organise this during an online game with random players? Is there a way to indicate a short break with a button or a feature without loosing your turn or getting the pace out of the game for the other players? I like gaming with a certain pace, not too much AP amongst the players, etc... but there are some practicalities for which we needs some solutions too

How do you guys do this?

Do it like in real, ask the others whether it‘s ok to take a short break?

I play on my phone on the toilet

Think a function can be fine like this:

I want a break for 5 minutes. So if everyone agree, it is ok otherwise it will used maybe too much. Then timers stop for five minutes and nobody can play for that time.

If you play on a pc, you can’t take it on toilet or when someone is at the door maybe you can’t play.

It puts people in an awkward situation if you're asking for an extended break they have to either say no or they get their game extended by a break when they might prefer to focus and finish a game than wait around.

1. If this is a rare occurrence, just ask the other players if you can switch to turn-based. Take the time you need for a toilet break and carry on without time pressure after.

2. If this is something you often need to do, set the timer to real time, slow speed and your normal AP-free play will let you bank enough time for a quick dash to the toilet when you need it.

Keep a pee-bottle next to your desk

Not serious ofcourse. Just day "BRB, need to go to the toilet", and I'm sure everyone would understand as long as you're back swiftly.
They would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they abandon the game(even if you're penalized for being late), as they would lose the game progress that was made. Sure they "won" technically, but lost enjoyment of the game.
