What's the point of the World BGA Rank?

I've played around 50 games and have over 700 total plays, so I'm not just a lurker, but when I look at the ranks, I think I have 1 game where a rank is actually shown. (I guess it's not a popular game.)

But on everything else, I see that I'm not ranked, either because my ELO is less than 100 (that's fine, I guess) or because I'm not ranked in the top 100.

It's the top 100 or nothing? Why? I'd rather have some idea even if it says I'm ranked 59,357. Who cares if it's in the top 100. Give me a number to look at, something to move up. It seems arbitrary, and not useful for 99.5% of the people.

They used to have all the ranks, but I believe they removed it due to performance issues (caused the site to be slow). Hopefully with some speed improvements they can bring back fuller rankings at some point.
