Moderators has different standards

Post by MisterTab »

Hello,

I have a question.

If i told earlier on the forum i had a 3 days chatban because i used the sentence: 'you're rubbish as always'.

And someone who used the words dumb (for this word yiu get a warning before sending) and supid (he miss the 't in this word). Gets a warning or nothing.

So bga gives people who used words with a warning a lower punishment then people who don't get a warning for sending.

Maybe it's time for moderators to meet each other and makes a one standard for punishments

Again ? Really ?
Can we create a subforum "players ranting" to gather all these useless posts ?

As I understood from the other thread (correct me if I am wrong), moderators do not decide upon a punishment. They only decide upon whether something that was reported in fact was an insult or not ("yes"-or-"no"-question).

While the size of the punishment is done by the system depending on whether you've been offensive before and when and how often.

So are you you questioning the system of automatical punishment or are you questioning the decision of moderators that both of the cases you mentioned have in fact been classified as an insult?

Considering that after being displeased by a moderation (I already explained the case of the game, in the other post), I re-reported someone and the result was different... I would disagree on what you say. That looked like a person (moderator/admin) took care of the moderation.

Also... if a person is moderated or reported several times... and does the penalty for those... "crimes"... why would you punish that player again and again and again, with higher punishments, in a different way that you would punish a first-reported person, for same or higher "crimes"?

For me, this makes no sense.

Also, considering that... more and more people are becoming rather vocal with how moderations work on the site, perhaps the system needs some working on or i don't know... only make game chat available for games where the chat is actually needed (like cooperation games like werewolves, etc.), or i don't know.

I personally don't care so much about moderations anymore seeing all this, and the site is very good game-wise and platform-wise, but these things with how the moderations are made and solved, kind of overshadows the brilliance of the site on the other aspects, and i think it's a shame.

How did you come to believe that?

Are you serious ?? This how any justice system works in the real word. You are not earning the right to say bad stuff by doing the penalty. You should not do what is forbidden, end of story.
If you do it several times, you are deliberately doing something forbidden over and over, thus the penalties will get higher and higher until you get banned.

Perhaps i need to be cleared.

First of all, BGA doesn't have a clear list of what is "forbidden". OK? - this, i think, is the source of all this criticism in the forums, from quite a lot of people.

2nd. I wasn't even referring to insults per se.
If for instance a player has reports not decided with moderations, just reported for... i don't know, being anno*ing, and also, some game quits, then (s)he gets reported and moderated for using the word "bad", because of those reports (which again... weren't decided with moderation), then he gets reported and moderated for using a hard-to-prove sarcastic "smart", because of those reports and for the "bad", then he gets (...) for telling a player that he will red thumb him/her, because of (...) then (...) - i don't see anything good here, from the ones dealing with the moderations.

I agree with the ones protesting in a diplomatic manner against the way moderations are handled, sorry.

And if a player who was moderated before, gets a new punishment for saying "please can you shut up and stop pressuring me, because i cannot focus" or "what a good move", or having a simple contradictory debate with someone, over a game move, with 0 bad words thrown, but which the other participant felt... offended by, a punishment way bigger than the one given as first moderation to a person giving "f bombs" or racist/discriminative direct insults, for me this system is not ok.

I did not say that a person moderated should consider him/herself justified to insult or to repeat the same thing he/she was moderated for!

I am saying that a person moderated can be reported for anything next, in some cases, and he/she could keep getting moderated, for smaller and smaller things.

MisterTab sounds like a broken record. Indeed, at least keep it in your previous thread if you're going to continue repeating yourself.

Just because the same people keep spamming these threads doesn't mean more people are "becoming vocal" about this.

It does, unless you're somehow expecting an exhaustive list of all insulting terms:

It does, unless you're somehow expecting an exhaustive list of all insulting terms:
It's not the same people who share these opinions; a lot of us do, but they don't say anything 'cause it's either futile, or to not get banned.
It's the same people who actually say something and try to debate in a diplomatic monologue.
And your "broken record" earlier... why isn't that an insult? If i was to call you that now (or use "like"), chances are that in my case, it would be considered one.

Yeah... I, as a BGA user, would expect something a bit more, more concrete, more transparency, more feedback to appeals, because on some of their moderations... they moderate for things that are not even found on any of those pages, ok? and i read them a few times.

Anyway, the site is mostly great, I will just ignore and phase the moderating system, peacefully and calmly. :)
And I also wish this type of posts would stop from appearing, because it doesn't matter if they may have a point, they will have no solution.

Have the best of days.
