Arena game where I could only lose points - is it a bug?

I just played an arena game, which I won by a huge margin. This was very pleasing, but I got no arena points at all. I investigated and found that of my three opponents, one was two leagues below me, the others three. So according to the way arena points are awarded, I could not have won any in this game. I could only have lost. This is pretty unfair, I think. Is it a bug? I do not think I have experienced this before.

So, not a bug in the sense of an error that should not have happened, then?

It's not a bug but a well known problem. It happens and there are a lot of posts about this all over the forum.

The BGA admins are aware of the problem and recently tried to tackle it but it did not work out.

You can avoid the situation by clicking the cogwheel next to the game icon in the lobby -> Extended options -> Opponent level -> Change to allow only opponents up to +/-2. However, you will face longer waiting times for the matchmaking (which is kind of the reason why the experiment I linked above did not work out).
