The "It's Your Turn" banner is slow to update

The yellow "Its Your Turn on NN tables" banner used to update quickly. For the past few weeks, it has been slow to update. For example, this morning, I knew it was my turn on 5 games - the email told me so, and the chrome plug-in told me so. But in BGA, there was no banner telling me it's my turn on 5 tables, and going to the "Your games in progress" screen didn't show the up to date statuses for the tables. It took 3-5 minutes for the banner to come up in BGA.

Is it intentional that this is updating more slowly now?

Funny, I get the opposite. I frequently have multiple BGA tabs open at once, and they all "flash" (animated arrow thing in the tab) and give me the banner notification when it's my turn in a game. But once I've made the move and it's no longer my turn, I often get some tabs which just don't update and don't lose the banner until I refresh. These aren't tabs where the server has decided I've disconnected, either.
